Its going to be interesting what comes about especially with facebook releasing community pages now and seeing how far that takes things. Only time will tell.

Re: Ning – time to upgrade social networks

It's definitely going to push some people to custom-built applications, as you say. I was actually in the process of recommending a Ning network to a client when the announcement was made, but I'm now building a Wordpress MU/Buddypress solution instead.

Ning is driven, above all else, by a need to survive and this move is actually just another nail in the coffin of advertising-supported revenue. Companies need to be a bit cleverer if they're going to offer a free product to a particular community and Ning clearly didn't have the model right.

If they do pull it off with a paid model then fair play to them. Like you said, though, I can see people flocking to platforms like Facebook (who'll be ready to receive them) and the custom-built solutions.

Re: Take a few minutes to think about actions that could damage your brand equity

*yawn* yawn* *yawn* zzzzzzzz xx

Re: Please take 2 minutes and give your feedback and WIN PRIZES

Thanks for the feedback fellas - keep em coming

Re: Please take 2 minutes and give your feedback and WIN PRIZES

Nice one Sean Love the full screen picture it could help with some items to see another angle or the catch type keep up the good work

Re: Please take 2 minutes and give your feedback and WIN PRIZES

Ok... here goes:
home page
Good bits - having people is fine
Using white space is good, keeps things clear and simple.
Odd things: poor photography, colour balance is wrong (grey b/g)
Logo I feel is to busy and confusing (simple is best)
Pink is everywhere and over used?
Layout needs to be improved
Needs to be a shop window so people want to enter the jewellery sections

Category Page,
Need to be designed in a different template page to the home page!
Need a 'crisp' modern way to navigate swiftly through the stuff?
Full descriptions with other image other views would be good
Why bother having a 3rd level - why not buy at 2nd level.
PayPal allows customers to pay with any credit card (don't need to force them to have a PP account!)

Best of luck, lots to think about, ps don't forget google analytics to see what where folks go and click on to monitor the traffic.

Maybe a hashtag that clarified it was a joke would make it almost ok - but retweeting is meant to be an original message - it doesn't matter if you add a hashtag to the end saying RTbomb that message still is meant to be from the actual person and their original message - not a malicious message. Just my opinion

Re: Importance of honesty in social media

Are you kidding? Surely the fact it has that hastag on it gives the implication of it being a joke.
